Seventy years ago, this morning, tens of thousands of men crossed the English Channel to start the assault on Hitler's Europe. A lot of them did not make it home. This is the first picture I ever saw about D-Day. It was taken by Robert Capa. He took 106 photos, then retreated back to England to have the film processed. Due to a mistake of the guy processing the film, all but ten shots were lost.
If you haven't seen it, This is the opening of Saving Private Ryan.
God Bless those who stormed those beaches that day.
